Designers + Technology = Awesome?
Does anyone else think this is really awesome?

It’s a gold plated pendant/USB key from Roberto Cavalli. Now it doesn’t say how much memory this little guy has, but for $565 it had better be at least 8 GB!
So what do you think? Coolest necklace ever, or lame attempt?

Alice in Jewelry Land
So if you’re like the rest of the world, you’ve been lining up to see Tim Burton’s latest movie, the 3D incarnation of Alice in Wonderland. I’ve always been a little obsessed with Alice (I blame the Disney cartoon), so I was pretty psyched to see that Swarovski has come out with some limited edition pendants based on the movie. There are 4 of them, all based around the Tea Party scene, and I think they’re super cute. Here’s my favorite:

These are available online ONLY at http://www.swarovski.com and range from $130 - $160 (CAD).

Christian Louboutin meets Barbie
In the greatest pairing since Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson, Christian Louboutin (of shoe fame) has paired up with Mattel to design the coolest Barbie around! The barbie is dressed in a cat burglar suit and comes with four pairs of Louboutins including their own boxes and bags. It also comes with a cute travel journal, describing the adventures of Barbie and Christian in Paris.
This gal is definitely at the top of my holiday wishlist, but runs a steep $150 (versus the $20 I paid for my Skipper back in the day).
She is available at www.net-a-porter.com

All Time Faves: Lip Gloss
Here at Neon Bible we aspire to be fashion- and beauty-forward (budget permitting). Sure there are times when a black lip is edgy chic and avant-garde. But for times when stuff like that is too WTF-srsly?, here are some failsafe glosses I’ve used over the years. These shades are conservative and should work with a majority of skintones. Plus they’re easy enough to apply in a moving bus at 6:30am half-asleep.

MAC Lipglass in Nymphette
Supposedly this is one of MAC’s best sellers. I’ve gone through tubes of this stuff since high school! Pinky-gold and slightly frosty, but not over the top. It really brightens up my face, adds a nice sheen to my lips, and isn’t too cool for my skintone (medium yellow-based tan). It’s sheer enough to apply without a mirror. Nymphette works on a variety of skintones too! I gifted this to my friend who has a peaches and cream complexion, and it looked great on her.

NARS Lip Gloss in Sweet Dreams
Ah, Grade 9. Besides the catfights, boys attempting to grow facial hair and general awkwardness, I’ll never forget my first NARS purchase. It was my 15th birthday and I went to Holt Renfrew for the first time. I instantly fell in love with this gloss, a midtone pink with gold shimmer. The shimmer really takes it up a notch yet it’s very wearable. I kept “nonchalantly” pulling this out of my makeup bag and showing it off to the uneducated masses. Then I realized most of the girls in class didn’t really care…anyways…

Victoria’s Secret Beauty Rush Gloss in Passionfruit Pop
I gotta say, the Beauty Rush glosses are my FAVOURITE “budget” glosses. I have a couple of these but Passionfruit is the one I reach for often. It’s a medium blue-pink with silver shimmer in the tube but is very sheer on the lips, giving a nice pink tint. I love the consistency of these glosses; they’re thick and moisturizing but not ridiculously sticky (Juicy Tubes I’m looking at you). And OMG the smell! They smell so yummy.

Rimmel Vinyl Gloss in Snog
Woo, finally a drugstore brand. I bought this one just for the name because I love British-themed things. It’s another muted medium pink creme with a plum undertone that’s great for everyday neutral looks. A sort of “my lips but better” colour. Personally I like the orange cremesicle flavour but I know a lot of people are put off by it. I’m not keen on the thin texture but regardless it’s a nice one to have.

Sephora: The Grand Opening
After months, nay years of waiting, Sephora has finally come to Vancouver. Today at 10 was the grand opening of the Pacific Centre location. I was there at 9:15 with my mom, waiting in line with dozens of other girls, waiting not so patiently to spend money I don’t have.
I’m going to let the pictures speak for themselves.
My Haul.
Sephora is for everyone, even elderly men.
“OMG they have Rosebud Salve” my mom says and waves it in front of my face.
Vancouver girls, were you there? What did you buy??
Review: Yu-Be Moisturizing Cream
Who it’s for: People with dry or ashy skin or those who intend to spend their entire summer at the beach and refuse to put on sun screen because it slows down their tan time.
What it’s all about: Yu-Be is the #1 selling medicated, vitamin-enriched skin care cream in Japan. Yu-Be’s Glycerin-and-vitamin-based formula was invented by Japanese pharmacist Yoshikiyo Nowatari as a product the entire family could use. A special manufacturing process gives Yu-Be’s concentrated, Glycerin-based moisturizer a rich, creamy texture that absorbs into your skin instantly and stays locked in for hours.
Why I like it: This moisturizer has one key element that other moisturizers don’t have, and that has made me totally obsessed with it. Staying power. I have a dry spot on my nose that drives me crazy. I put this stuff on in the morning and my nose remains mositurized for the entire day.
I also put Yu-Be on after lying in the backyard all day or going to the beach. It really helps to sooth my super burned neck and arms and prevent the dreaded peeling.
Another great thing about this product is that it’s guy friendly. It’s unscented and doesn’t leave a sticky film on your skin afterwards. I gave my boyfriend one of my sample tubes and he’s actually using it on his messed up hands and nails.
What I don’t like: That I don’t have a bigger supply, and that if you’re living in Vancouver, you have to head out to Kiss and Makeup in West Van to get this stuff.
Yu-Be moisturizer is also available at Sephora for $15-25 USD.
