TOO FACED Liquif-Eye
I’m a huge fan of Winners. If you take the time to sift through the cheap stuff, you may come across some Tom Ford shades, Stuart Weitzman pumps, or some quality cosmetics. Usually I’m a fan of Too Faced products, so I was jazzed to find their Liquif-Eye set for $12, when its usually $35.
The idea here is that you have eyeshadow palette (full of very cute colours) and then you “dip the tip of this full-sized Liquif-Eye into any combination of the 12 shadows contained in this eyeliner lover’s dream kit!” to convert the shadow into a liner.
Yup, this does not work. I tried to apply the liner on my hand first, and it just turned into a runny mess, and I had to do multiple coats just to achieve the original colour, which just made it look even more sloppy. When I tried to apply it to my lids, it didn’t even show up. Lame.
On the bright side, Liquif-Eye makes a great shadow palette on its own, but I’m glad I didn’t pay full price.

Bliss Is…
Bliss is…
…A boyfriend who comes back from a “guy’s weekend” in Toronto and surprises you with a gift from Sephora. “Nothing there really interested me, and there was no way I was going to ask where to find “orgasm.” So I got you this one because it
looked like space, and then I tried to pick out the one with the best swirl.” And even better, is a boyfriend shows moderate interest when you try to explain your complex beauty routine afterwards (although I did lose him when I tried to explain what the different brushes were for).
When my boyfriend surprises me with prezzies, I repay him one of the only ways I know how… baked goods.
Some boyfriend friendly recipes I recommend are…
Cinnamon Raisin Scones (these are also kind of healthy)
Green Tea Cheesecake White Chocolate Brownies
Filo Lemon Curd Tarts with Fresh Raspberries (my boyfriend’s favourite)
Too Faced Galaxy Glam eye shadow in Super Nova is available at Sephora for $19.50

DIY Kelly
Fendi did it first, with their black baguette that came with a set of Pantone markers, but now Hermes has stepped up to the plate and released a “build your own Kelly bag” on their website. In a few easy steps, you can print out the blueprints, cut and paste, and you have yourself a new paper Kelly.
Its interesting to see a brand like Hermes go interactive. Perhaps they’re trying to appeal to a papercraft set? Maybe they’re just trying to hook people on designer goods when they’re young. Still, I’m tempted to download my own papercraft Kelly, even though it will probably just sit on my floor for a week, then I’ll step on it one night and it’ll end up in the trash. Anyways…
Are you going to download your very own DIY paper Kelly?
Shopping for Eye Cream
A few weeks ago, my roommate was browsing in MAC, when a sales person approached her and asked if she wore eye cream. “Um, no” she said sheepishly. “Well you should.”
Since then I’ve had eye cream on the brain. I’ll admit, I haven’t been wearing it either, despite fair warning. Whenever a fashion magazine does a feature on “beauty at every age” the main piece of advice for girls in their 20s is eye cream, eye cream and then some more eye cream on top of that. But this stuff isn’t cheap. Even on a drugstore budget, its hard to find an eye cream under 20 dollars that actually does something.
But the other day I was in Shoppers Drug Mart, and I spotted Nivia Visage Aqua Sensation Anti-Shadow Eye Cream on sale for $8.99 AND with 2 times the points (God bless the Optimum program). The packaging claimed that the this cream has a “soothing quick absorbing formula with refreshing Cucumber extract [that] instantly revives the delicate eye area. Enriched with Magnesium, Ginseng and light reflecting pigments, it reduces the appearance of puffiness and under-eye shadows.” I figured I had no excuse to not pick this up and give it a try.
And let me tell you, this is a great eye cream. I saw a visible reduction in under eye circles, shadows and puffiness, and the cooling sensation left me feeling a little more awake. After a week or so of using the cream, I also saw an overall reduction in shadows. Not bad for $8.99. If you’re looking for an eye cream, and can’t exactly afford say, Chanel Precision Ultra, Nivia Visage Aqua Sensation Anti-Shadow Eye Cream is a cheap and effective solution that I highly recommend.
