Check it out! It’s Lindsay Lohan wearing something other than leggings, and she looks cool, casual and put together. And as a result, I’m now on a mad hunt for flared, gray cords.

My Budget Favourites

When it comes to my beauty arsenal, there are a few products I believe you should always buy high end. Liquid eyeliner, foundation, concealer, and eyeshadow. For everything else, I’m always on the hunt of deals.

These are a few of my favourite budget products, and they’re all available at Shoppers Drug Mart:

Maybelline Unstoppable Eyeliner in Onyx

This is an amazing pencil eyeliner. It’s creamy yet stays put all day. Plus, it’s self sharpening which is great. While I usually line my upper lash line with liquid liner, I use Maybelline’s liner on my inner lower lash. It blends nicely and looks really soft, and it costs about $8.00.

Anabelle Kohl Eyeliner in White

I’m obsessed with this product. I use this little pencil liner to highlight my inner lash line. I even use it sometimes all around my eye on top of concealer to cover dark circles and wake up my eyes in the morning. It blends really nicely and look great. Plus, it costs about $4.00.

Cover Girl Brow and Eyemakers in Midnight Brown and Perfect Blend Eyeliner in BlackBrown

I’ve been using the Eyemaker pencils for the past year to fill in my eyebrows that refuse to grow out. It stays on all day and and looks really natural. The Perfect Blend eyeliner is a great no hassle pencil liner for day looks and if you mess up the line, lucky you, it comes with a smudge brush on the other end to hide your mistakes. About $10.00.

Cover Girl Trushine Lipstick

These are perfect lipsticks. I was on the hunt for a great plum shade a la Serena Van Der Woodsen and picked up Plum Shine. It’s deep but it’s also very sheer and easy to apply.

If you’re still lamenting the passing of Lancome’s pout-a-porter Pixel Pink, then pick up Cover Girl’s Raspberry Shine. It’s exactly the same shade and only $6.00.

For the brown haired, green eyed set, nothing beats a brown and gold smoky eye.
I’m loving inner eye highlighting these days
And this is just awesome.

What I’m Loving Right Now

MAC Blushcreme in Sweet William

This is an amazing blush. It’s pink, it’s refreshing and leaves your cheeks looking incredibly smooth. It’s the perfect colour if you’re a little (or a lot) on the pale side. But watch out. With creme based blushes it’s easy to apply too much and end up looking streaky, or like the “working girl” I saw on the corner of Pender and Howe who looked like she applied her makeup in the dark. To get a perfect finish every time, I apply my Sweet William with the MAC 190 brush, which, although it is designed for foundation application, works perfectly.

MAC Lipglass in Underage

For Christmas I got an adorable little gloss set from MAC which included this adorable shade. It’s a soft, pale pink with a little bit of a shimmer to it. The downside though, and I think this is a downside with all lip glasses, they’re sticky as hell, and can get creasy and gross if you find yourself licking your lips constantly. So always bring it along with you for reapplication.

Pair this gloss with golden brown eyes for a very sexy evening look.

Victoria’s Secret Beauty Rush Mascara in Brown

Okay so it’s not the greatest mascara in the world. It doesn’t extend your lashes or give them that much volume, but if you’re on the go, and want a simple, subtle brown day look, it’s a great product (and costs only $7.00). I like to pair it with brown liner and a little pale gold in the corner of my eyes. It also works great for taming your brows. Just make sure to brush off the excess goo before applying.
Although, one thing I did notice about this product - it’s really hard to get the wand back into the tube. You practically have to just stab at it until it goes. Really annoying.
